Organizing Home and Small Office
This site is also dedicated to provide information and tips on how to organize and to assist in many aspects of your life whether it involves systematically arranging a kitchen, bedroom, office files, photos, and so on.
One of the biggest advantages of having office files in order, having the kitchen pantry arranged in an orderly fashion, or just having your ducks in a row in general with respect to any other area of your home or life is the time it will save you.
If you are well organized you will not waste time trying to find something. You may even save money for one because you won’t buy a duplicate of something you already have. If you are a business professional saving time can mean saving money. Being organized can also help you reduce or avoid stress.
In the event you are a pack rat or even if you have less “junk” than your average pack rat that you are wanting to sort through it will require a decision process of what will be trash and what will be treasure.
You undoubtedly have heard the expression: “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure”, so items in these categories will vary from one individual to another. Treasures generally have an emotional attachment to them.
Once you have sorted through the trash and treasure you will want to decide what should be donated to a charity, what will be sold, what will be disposed of, and what should be stored.
There are many avenues for “getting rid” of your trash. You can sell your items in a garage sale, on www.Craigslist.com, or place an ad in the classified section of your local newspaper. eBay is another avenue, but it will require a bit more effort on your part than the other options.
Many charities like: Goodwill, Purple Heart, Salvation Army, and others will be happy to receive your items. Contact them through their website or elsewhere to be sure of what items they are willing to take. Articles posted here will address other places you may not be familiar with yet.
Be sure and dispose of hazardous waste properly. Your city or an area nearby should have a depository for such items. There are similar dump sites or recycling centers for electronic equipment like computer CPU’s and CRT’s, cell phones, etc. In some cases you may find free pickup of these items.
It is also our goal to help you avoid over organizing. Yes, there is a downside to too much orderliness. If you get carried away it can consume too much of your time and drive you or your partner insane. It would defeat the purpose if you spend all your time organizing and leave little time for work and play. Moderation is key. In other words, don’t try to arrange all your vegetables alphabetically in the refrigerator vegetable bin from asparagus to zucchini. This is bordering on obsessive compulsive disorder.
Mr. Organize It can help you with your organizing projects. See my list of services offered under the NAV bar "Services and Pricing". This section will also give you an idea of what you can expect during a typical organizing project.
Articles will also be posted here for creative ways that you can display photos and other memorabilia to preserve your treasures.
Note:
New material will be added on an ongoing basis so, please return frequently. It is hoped that in the interim the site will provide valuable information and insight on relocation issues and solutions to your organizing needs.
